We held a fourth informational town hall, this time on zoom to ensure that those who were at higher risk for COVID-19 would have the ability to participate. We heard from unionized researchers from other institutions, went over updates, and addressed some of the unfounded claims made by the Sinai administration about our campaign.

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) held a Hearing on the logistics of our election with representatives from Sinai Postdoctoral Organizing Committee-UAW (SPOC-UAW) and from the Sinai administration.

We organized a joint picnic with our unionized postdoc colleagues at Columbia University (UAW Local 4100) for postdocs around the city to meet up and share our experiences as researchers in NYC.

We held a third informational Town Hall to update postdocs on recent events on our campaign, including our NLRB petition and what we could expect in terms of a timeline to our election.

After an overwhelming 80% of postdoctoral fellows from across Mount Sinai signed up for the union, SPOC-UAW filed for an election with the National Labor Relations Board. We also delivered an Open Letter signed by nearly one hundred of us to Dean Charney asking Sinai to remain neutral and meet with us to discuss a fair, efficient process for verifying our majority support.

Organizers met to discuss recent progress and events and share our experience talking with hundreds of coworkers during the card drive.

We organized a happy hour for postdocs to meet each other and discuss why we’re forming our union in a more informal setting.
