Last December, we won our historic first contract which included the highest base pay for postdocs in the country, relocation assistance and guaranteed housing for new postdocs, fully paid parental leave, visa renewal leave and reimbursement, new rights for international workers, protections against harassment, bullying, and unjust termination, and much more. One of our most important wins was the creation of a new Emergency Support Fund, which established $50,000 per year to address significant financial hardships postdocs face.

Since the fund opened in March, many postdocs applied for emergency relief. Alarmingly, Sinai administration has since denied more than half of the applications to the fund, and forced applicants to wait for two monthsbefore their requests were rejected. These requests were based on severe housing or childcare needs that must be addressed in a timely manner. As we have always fought for equity, we demand that Sinai provide immediate financial relief to those applicants.

Click here to sign our petition by Friday, July 26th. The more of us who sign, the stronger our message to Sinai will be that we will not accept the status quo of inequities in academia.

In solidarity,
