SPOC-UAW: NOTICE OF NOMINATION AND ELECTION FOR ONE BARGAINING COMMITTEE MEMBER

Nominations are declared open for one (1) position in the Sinai Postdoctoral Organizing Committee-UAW (SPOC-UAW) Bargaining Committee. All eligible Union supporters [all Mount Sinai Postdoctoral Fellows who are currently employed by the institute and have filled out a SPOC-UAW authorization card (link here) or a bargaining survey (link here)] are nominated for the SPOC-UAW Bargaining Committee.

The bargaining committee is composed of five (5) positions and one (1) is open for nomination.

Any eligible Union supporter who wishes to accept the nomination for a Bargaining Committee position must deliver a signed acceptance of nomination no later than 5pm on May 11, 2023, by e-mail to elections@sinaipostdocunion.org or by mail to SPOC-UAW Elections, 350 W 31st Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10016.

Candidate statements: 

Each candidate may write and submit a candidate statement of no more than 250 words. These statements will be posted on the SPOC-UAW website if there are elections. Address, phone number and email address must be included, but will not be counted toward the 250 words, and will not be posted on the website.

It is the responsibility of the candidate to submit the candidate statement. All candidate statements must be received by the time nominations close at 5pm on May 11, 2023.

Election Dates, Times and Locations:

In the event that the number of eligible candidates who accept nomination does not exceed one (1), such candidate(s) will be deemed elected by acclamation and no election will be held.

If more than one (1) eligible candidate accepts nomination, an election will be conducted with the election of the one (1) candidate receiving the highest number of votes. All eligible Union supporters [all Mount Sinai Postdoctoral Fellows who are currently employed by the institute and have filled out a SPOC-UAW authorization card or a bargaining survey] are eligible to vote. Bargaining unit members may fill out an authorization card or survey prior to voting.

The election will take place on May 18, 2023, 10am to 6pm.

A run-off election, if necessary, will be held on May 24, 2023, 10am to 6pm.

Voters shall be entitled to vote for a total of one (1) candidate.
