RSVP for our next virtual bargaining session on Friday, 3/17 at 9am.

Last June, we voted by an overwhelming 89.5% to form our union so we could negotiate a fair contract with Mount Sinai. Since then, we have held 14 bargaining sessions with the Sinai administration. While we have made some progress, Sinai has consistently refused to schedule a sufficient amount of time at the table, and has rejected basic provisions that other unionized postdocs and Sinai employees already have which would make Sinai more equitable and inclusive.

Here are some highlights from our last bargaining session:

  • No answer on providing a time-limited housing extension (five weeks and counting…)
  • No job security (Sinai wants to keep the right to terminate appointments without just cause)
  • No commitment to any specific forms of professional development in their annual program
  • No timely, enforceable grievance procedure (4+ months until you can go to neutral third-party)
  • No increase in the frequency or duration of bargaining sessions.

To read more about the last session, read Lukas’ update email here.

In order to show Mount Sinai that this level of urgency is not acceptable to us, please attend this week’s bargaining session. You can attend for a part of the session or for the entire session. Click here to RSVP: https://forms.gle/whDWLoJMunwgCh5r6
