Voting starts tomorrow in our historic union election.

Since many of us began talking about forming a union more than a year ago, we’ve had conversations with colleagues across departments, town halls, and community events with other NYC researchers. We are proud of the unprecedented participation by Sinai postdocs in this process, and the positive conversation we have established about the value of our work as researchers. We hope to continue that conversation through the process of collective bargaining.

The Sinai administration has taken actions that seem increasingly intended to persuade us to vote “no” tomorrow and Thursday. While this is disappointing, it is not unexpected given the examples we’ve seen of other large institutions where postdocs have unionized. Our reasons for voting “yes” have not changed, and we are excited to take this critical next step toward joining 100,000 academic workers in the UAW across the country. If you have any remaining questions, take a look at our side-by-side response to Sinai’s FAQ.

We also wanted to share a short video from colleagues with some of the many reasons we’re voting “yes” for our union.

We encourage everyone to participate in our election and we will see you out on campus over the next two days. Voting times and locations are below and on our website.

  • The Patricia and Robert Levinson Student Center on the first floor of Annenberg.
