Today the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) held a Hearing on the logistics of our election with representatives from Sinai Postdoctoral Organizing Committee-UAW (SPOC-UAW) and from the Sinai administration.

The primary subject of the hearing was whether our election should be conducted in-person or by mail. During COVID-19, the NLRB has increasingly used mail-in elections to help ensure the safety of voters and labor board staff. In this case, the current positivity rates make a mail-in election most likely. However, both the Sinai administration and SPOC-UAW expressed a willingness to have an in-person election if it were possible to do so safely, on or around Tuesday and Wednesday, June 21st and 22nd. In the case of mail voting, dates would also depend on when the labor board issues its decision.

The next step will be for the labor board to issue a decision on the voting method (in-person or by mail), as well as the election dates . We hope this decision happens quickly and will keep everyone updated as soon as we know more.
